Will someone from Zillow see my home in person?


If you like our initial offer, which is based on the information you provided, the next step is a home evaluation. We’ll schedule a time for our estimator to visit your home and determine whether any repairs are needed. Based on their assessment, we will then provide our best and final offer.

How do I prepare for my home evaluation?

To ensure an accurate offer, Zillow estimators will complete a thorough walkthrough of your home. The estimators will need access to all rooms in your house and will take photos for reference purposes.

  • The evaluation will last about two hours
  • Make sure all utilities are on (electric, water, gas)
  • If you or an adult age 18 or older cannot be present throughout the evaluation, you must sign a waiver

I have tenants. What do they need to know about my home evaluation?

Please let your tenants know the date, time and purpose of your evaluation to ensure our estimators can gain entry to the home. The estimators will need access to all rooms in your house and will take photos for reference purposes.

  • If you or an adult age 18 or older cannot be present throughout the evaluation, you must sign a waiver

Do I need to clean my house before the evaluation?

Haven’t vacuumed? Don’t worry! The cleanliness of your house has no impact on your offer. Simply ensure the estimators can access all areas of your home.


Will the cost of repairs be factored into the offer?

All buyers take the home’s condition into account when calculating an offer. When Zillow offers to buy your home, our initial offer will cover our best estimate of the work required in order to resell the house in move-in-ready condition, based on the information and images you’ve provided.

The cost of previously unknown or undisclosed repairs discovered at the time of the evaluation would be deducted from the initial offer, and the sale contract would reflect the lower price.

How soon will I close after accepting the final offer?

You will work with your dedicated advisor and Zillow’s broker partner to determine the closing date and other conditions, but you will have considerable flexibility to pick a date that works for you. In general, you can close in as little as seven or as many as 90 days after the sale contract is signed.

Who can I talk to if I have questions?

At Zillow, we have a team of advisors focused on making sure Zillow Offers is a great experience for sellers. Sellers using Zillow Offers will have a dedicated Zillow Offers Advisor who will accompany them throughout the process, answer questions and ensure smooth progress toward closing.


What if I’m dissatisfied with the process of selling my home to Zillow?

If you have any issues with the sale, you should reach out to your dedicated Zillow Offers Advisor who will help you find a resolution, if the issue is within Zillow’s control, or connect you to other resources. If the issue is regarding offer pricing, Zillow partner agents and brokers can work directly with you or your representative.

I received my offer — what do I do next?

Your offer is valid for three days, and you can contact your advisor during that time should you have additional questions. If you decide to accept the offer, your advisor will walk you through the next steps.

What if I don’t like my offer?

You can accept our offer and sell your home, you can list with an agent or you can do nothing. It’s completely up to you. If you believe our offer is based on incorrect information, please reach out to your Zillow Offers Advisor. We also encourage all homeowners to discuss their options with a real estate professional.

If I express interest in Zillow’s offer, am I obligated to sell my home?

Receiving or expressing interest in Zillow’s offer doesn’t obligate you to sell your home. Even if you accept the offer, you are under no obligation until you’ve signed a sale contract. If the offer amount changes after we complete a home evaluation, for example, you can decline the offer. We recommend you review and discuss your options with a licensed real estate agent.

I didn’t receive an offer. Why?

Not all homes meet the criteria for Zillow Offers. This can be due to factors like the home’s age or build type. For example, mobile homes are not eligible at this time. If your home doesn’t receive an offer, but you’re still interested in selling, consider listing with an agent. We can connect you with a local partner agent who can help determine your selling options.
